Just Imagine Yourself At The Wave!
A world class hikers and photographers dream! The Wave, truly an international destination. We have visitors from all over the world come to start their adventures here. If you didn’t score a permit on-line, (check that out here: https://www.blm.gov/az/paria/obtainpermits.cfm) then you MUST come to Kanab in person. This is where a lottery system is used every day to dispense only 10, next–day permits.
You may be the next big winner of these highly sought after passes!
Just Imagine Arriving in Las Vegas!
Most of our guests are flying in, and Las Vegas NV is the nearest International Airport. Kanab is a three hour drive NE. This is probably where you will rent a car. Consider getting a four wheel drive to get off the beaten path and explore some back country! (Not needed for the National Parks) Spend an evening or two on your way home at the fabulous Las Vegas Strip, where the sky is the limit!
You will be 10 min. from the largest no-kill pet sanctuary in the nation. Folks just like you come from all over the country just to spend a few days volunteering with these exceptional animals. There really is something everyone can do. The Western Star Bungalow is Pet Friendly, so whether you bring your own best friend, or borrow one from the sanctuary for a night, pets are always welcome here. Check out Best Friends here: https://bestfriends.org
Just Imagine Exploring Slot Canyons!
There is nothing in this world quite like “skinny hiking” through gorgeous sandstone cliffs that tower far over your head. Buckskin Gulch is said to be the longest Slot Canyon on the planet. Just 45 min to the trailhead, spend the day doing something truly unique!
Another half hour down the road and you can take a tour through the world renowned Antelope Canyon on the Navajo Nation Reservation just outside of Page, AZ. Another red rock photographer’s paradise.
There are several tour companies that can take you to a myriad of slots and other cool places. Some places you really need a high clearance 4-wheel drive and a guide.
Peek-a-boo Canyon is close to Kanab and one of our favorites.
